# Setting up Entra SSO

Last updated 9 days ago

### Who can use this feature

- Supported on **Enterprise** plans
- Anyone with an org admin or IT admin role can access and edit SSO settings

This article shows how to retrieve key pieces of information from Entra to complete the SAML SSO setup process. For the rest of the SSO setup process, see our article [Setting up SAML SSO](https://support.writer.com/article/43-setting-up-saml-sso).

## Before you begin

Collect key data from WRITER to share with Entra, as explained [here](https://support.writer.com/article/43-setting-up-saml-sso#Share-information-from-Writer-with-your-identity-provider-IdP-ZECRu).

## Configure SSO in Entra

### Create WRITER SAML app

Go to the **Enterprise applications** portal in Entra, select **Create a new application**.

Select **Create your own application**. Then give it a name, and select _Integrate any other application you don’t find in the gallery (Non-gallery)_ for the other question. Select **Create**.

### Configure WRITER SAML app

Go to the **Single sign-on tab** and select the `SAML` method.

Then select **Edit** and add the below values to the **Basic SAML Configuration** section:

**Identifier (Entity ID):**`app.writer.com`

**Reply URL (ACS URL):**`https://app.writer.com/api/access/saml`

### Review attributes (optional)

You can use the default user attributes, or edit them by selecting **Edit**. If you edit your user attributes, _emailaddress_ or another form of the _email_ profile attribute must be defined and be passed to WRITER.

Please note that the `Unique User Identifier` attribute must match the **email address** associated with your user’s WRITER accounts.

### Download Metadata XML

Go to the **Single sign-on tab** and scroll down to the **SAML Signing Certificate** section, and download the `Federation Metadata XML` , which you can then upload to WRITER.

## Finish the SAML SSO setup process

Return to [Setting up SAML SSO](https://support.writer.com/article/43-setting-up-saml-sso#Section-B-From-your-IdP-into-Writer--KZpf9) to complete this process.
